June 19th, 2019, marked a significant milestone for Fcode Labs as we moved into our first dedicated office space in Piliyandala, Sri Lanka. This transition was more than just a physical relocation—it symbolized a new chapter of growth, ambition, and commitment to building a thriving business. For a startup that began as a vision, securing an independent workspace was a defining achievement, providing an environment where ideas could flourish, and collaborations could take shape.
At this pivotal moment, the team consisted solely of the three co-founders—Buddhishan, Tharindu, and Ramesh. Each of them played a crucial role in shaping the company’s future, pouring relentless effort into establishing a firm foundation. It was during this time that Tharindu transitioned to full-time work at Fcode Labs, marking a significant step forward. With this move, all three founders were fully committed, dedicating themselves entirely to turning their entrepreneurial aspirations into reality.
The first year in the Piliyandala office was an era of perseverance, resourcefulness, and hands-on effort. To optimize space and fully embrace the startup spirit, Tharindu and Ramesh took up residence in the upstairs area of the two-story house, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to the company’s early growth. This unique arrangement fostered a deep sense of ownership, as they weren’t just building a business but creating a home for their vision—both literally and figuratively.
With no external resources or a large team to delegate tasks to, the founders took on every aspect of setting up the office themselves. From designing the interiors and creating branding materials to handling day-to-day cleaning and maintenance, their efforts went beyond conventional business operations. Every desk, wall decoration, and piece of furniture was arranged with care, each detail reflecting their passion for building something meaningful. Late nights were spent brainstorming ideas, solving challenges, and refining their approach to software development and innovation.
This phase of Fcode Labs’ journey wasn’t just about setting up an office—it was about laying the groundwork for the company’s culture, resilience, and identity. The hands-on experience of building something from scratch not only strengthened the team’s bond but also instilled a deep-rooted sense of perseverance that continues to drive the company forward today. Looking back, this move was not just a milestone; it was the beginning of an exciting adventure—one built on determination, hard work, and the belief that every great company starts with a dream and a willingness to make it happen.
